Are you 100% sure you are going to Heaven?
Your assurance comes from God's word:
A. You have eternal life when you are saved.
B. “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the son of God does not have life.”
(1 John 5: 12)
C. “...He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
(John 5: 24)
D. “... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved... .”
(Acts 16: 31)
E. You can have eternal life in Jesus Christ when you:
1. Confess “Jesus is Lord” - repentance from past life and proclaiming His Lordship in your life from this day forward. This includes a commitment to change your ways.
2. Believe in your heart that God raised Him form the dead – acknowledging that faith in His sacrificial death and resurrection is the only requirement for the forgiveness of your sins.
Have you met these conditions? Then you have been born-again into eternal life. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of the blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.' (John 1: 12-13)
The witness of the holy spirit confirms the assurance.
A. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”
(Romans 8: 16)
B. The Holy Spirit is an active participant in your life . After you accepted Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will speak to you in a still, small (yet assuring) voice inside your spirit that you have really been born into the family of God.
C. No one can convince you that you have eternal life except the Holy Spirit . It is that calm certainty in your innermost being that you know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus indeed is in your heart. Death is no more to be feared because you are sure that you will be in His presence.
D. Do you have that inward assurance?
When you're sure, your life is transformed
A. Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5: 17)
B. A new attitude toward sin.
1. “Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (Romans 6: 6)
2. Sin is not your master anymore. Christ is! The desire to sin is replaced by the desire to please God.
3. If you do sin can you readily sense the conviction of the Holy Spirit and “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1: 9)
C. A new love.
1. Love is the motivation for the changed life . It also provides the tangible assurance of being in fellowship with God. “Behold, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4: 7-8)
2. Faithful Christian believers – people who have been saved– are easily recognized by the love they exhibit for one another.
YES, YOU CAN BE 100% SURE
“These things I have written... That you may know that you have eternal life... .”
(1 John 5: 13)
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10: 9)
